KID FROOPY - DRIVE SLOW

Music, Original MixEricComment

Kid Froopy can do no wrong! He's hit some absolute home runs with "BB (four missed texts)" and "Dreams," and you know we were excited to hear his latest concoction - an energetic indie electronic tune "Drive Slow". The song pulses with layers of rhythmic vocal chops throughout the choruses and finale. There's also hints of funky guitar, and an infectious downward falling synth melody that floats in every now and then that serves as the whipped cream on top. This delectable tune is another fine dime in his deck of tasty jams. You can listen on Spotify as well here.

KID FROOPY - DREAMS

Computer music never sounded so good, and on this cool and cloudy San Francisco morning I am totally enveloped with this warm and bouncy new single "Dreams" from Kid Froopy. This young music maker is new on our scene, and he's been making his mark over the past few months with fantastic releases via Moving Castle and Deadbeats. The title of this song is perfect, because I get a very dreamy feeling with light whispery vocals and those perfectly timed breaks - this is dance pop perfection! KID FROOPY - SHOW ME

Music, Original MixNathan ThostComment

Des Moines based Kid Froopy just released an original track that hits with a one-two combo of emotional enveloping lyricism, and a hard, driving refrain. When a song can force you to invest yourself with such minimalist narrative, if any at all, its a sign of a keeper. "Show Me" just released through Zeds Dead's new label Deadbeats and has a steadily growing catalogue of tracks you'd be amiss to pass up. You can find this on your favorite digital retailer here.

KID FROOPY - BB (FOUR MISSED TEXTS) (VALENTINE REMIX)

If you've been a BB reader for any time, you've probably noticed we are in love with Moving Castle, the collective with artists such as Jai Wolf, Manila Killa, WRLD, AObeats, Robokid, Chet Porter and many others. In August they put out this incredible track "bb (four missed texts)" from the relatively new and mysterious producer Kid Froopy. Now they've dropped a remix package featuring three unique takes on the future electro pop original which is so full of sugary, young-love feels. My favorite of the three comes from Kansas City-based producer VALENTINE.  He puts an edgy, raw, bass-tinged twist on the track, creating something super fresh in the process. It's a delicate blend of the original's cutesy charm and his own melodic take on bass music, which packs a healthy punch. Ah yes another great Moving Castle release this time courtesy of yung newcomer Kid Froopy. "bb (four missed texts)" is a upbeat electro pop record I'm dubbing future pop, with all sorts of earworms to dive into. The track starts energetic with light airy synths and piano before diving back down with a smattering of guitar strums and ambient pads. As the record picks back up with the vocals we're introduced to more spritely guitar licks and bass. The vocals lightly anchor the top end as the synth work bobs and weaves around the percussion. My favorite part comes about 2:50 in when we're treated to a breakdown with terrific arp work building us back up through the end. This original comes right after an excellent release of Kid Froopy's energetic remix of Hoodboi's "Closer ft. ASTR." There's a bright future ahead here, but for now you can grab this track on retailers here.
